The 2012 Ontario Provincial Armwrestling Championships are now in the books. Maksim Khodau did a great job organizing this event, which ran very smoothly.
Two individuals were inducted into the Ontario Armwrestling Hall of Fame:

The Southern Ontario Armwrestling Championships took place last week, wrapping up the regional circuit tournament schedule for the 2011/2012 OAA season. Next up are the Provincial Championships in Barrie on May 5th. Maksim Khodau has been working hard in preparing what is sure to be a great event. Any Ontario resident can compete in the Provincial Championships, and in doing so can qualify to represent the province at the Canadian Championships in Vancouver over Canada Day weekend. All Provincials competitors must purchase renew an OAA membership for the 2012/2013 season (at a cost of $30), which also provides voting privileges during the Annual General Meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone on May 5th!

There was a fantastic turnout for this year's Mike Gould Classic. Next up is the final OAA tournament prior to the Provincial Championships. The Southern Ontario Championships will be taking place in Woodstock on April 14th, and will feature a headline supermatch between Mike Gould and Tim Bresnan. The Provincial Championships will be held in Barrie on May 5th. Check out the Upcoming Tournaments section for full details.

The month of February featured two great events: Arm Melter 13 and the Golden Horseshoe Armwrestling Championships. Thank you to Joe Gould and Mike Gould for hosting these tournaments. Be sure to check out the upcoming tournaments schedule. Seven tournaments are already on the spring schedule.

The Central Ontario Championships kicked off 2012 this past weekend. There was another fantastic turnout with many new pullers trying out the sport. Full results can be found here. Next up, Arm Melter 13 in Belleville on February 11th. Details for this and other events can be found here.

The Western Ontario Championships wrapped up the 2011 OAA calendar year in style! Many pullers came out for a great competition and fantastic prizes. Congratulations Jason Manjin and Team Havoc! 2012 will kick off with the Central Ontario Championships in Peterborough on January 28th. Guy Windover always does a great job with this event and I'm sure this year will be no different. There will be a novice division at this event, which is great news for all of the new pullers.

The 2011-2012 OAA season has already seen a number of fun events, including the first circuit sanctioned event of the year -- the Eastern Ontario Championships held in Kingston on November 5th. The Canadian National Armwrestling Championships were a huge success! The event was held over Labour Day weekend, and there were a total of 342 entries across 5 divisions – Senior (Open), Masters, Grand Masters, Disabled, and Youth. Ontario took the team trophy for the fourth year in a row. Full results can be found here.

July 26th, 2011 - The Provincial Championships were a huge success! Full results can be found here. It looks like Ontario will have a strong team at Nationals! A few decisions were made at the OAA Annual General Meeting:
Ontario will support the start coman rule change at the CAWF Annual General Meeting ("Don't Move.....GO!").
Maksim Khodau will host the 2012 Provincial Championships in Barrie. The tentative date is May 5th, 2012.
OAA elections were held for the positions of President, Vice President, Referee-in-Chief, and Secretary-Treasurer. Eric Roussin was re-elected as President, Joe Gould was elected as Vice President, Dave Campbell was re-elected as Referee-in-Chief, and Mike Haigh was newly elected as Secretary-Treasurer.

July 12th, 2011 - The Provincial Championships are taking place this weekend in Belleville. Everyone who competes automatically qualifies to attend the Canadian Championships in Ottawa on Setpember 3rd and 4th. Full details on the Provincial Championships can be found here.
June 11th, 2011 - May saw three successful events -- the Northern Ontario Championships, Arm Melter 11, and the Gloucester Fair Armwrestling Championships. Full results can be found here. Next up, the Toronto Pro SuperShow on June 18th.
April 24th, 2011 - The Ontario Armwrestling Hall of Fame is now finally online! Check out the profiles of the five initial inductees here.
April 21st, 2011 - The Southern Ontario Armwrestling Championships were held this past weekend in Woodstock. The Puller of the Year points race has become very interesting. Check out the current standings.
March 30th, 2011 - The Mike Gould Classic took place this past weekend and set an attendance record with 244 entries! Full results can be found here. Be sure to check out the schedule for details on upcoming events.
March 14th, 2011 - February was a busy month with both the Arm Melter 10 and the Western Ontario Championships receiving good turnouts. Next up is Canada's biggest pro/am event, the Mike Gould Classic! This year's event will feature kids, masters, and amateur classes on Saturday, March 26th, and pro classes on Sunday the 27th. February 9th, 2011 - The year started with a bang with the Central Ontario Armwrestling Championships in Peterborough on January 29th. Guy Windover and his team put on another incredible event, and armwrestling talent was present in spades!Next up on the calendar is Arm Melter 10 on February 19th in Belleville. November 1st, 2010 - Mark Zalepa hosted a superb tournament in Woodstock on October 23rd. The main event of the day was an invitational round robin tournament featuring many of the world's best 143 lb female pullers. A great time was had by all.
The first circuit sanctioned event of the 2010-2011 OAA season is being held on November 20th in Kingston. Full details can be found here.

July 23rd, 2010 - The Provincial Championships were a huge success, with 117 entries. Full results can be found here. A productive Annual General Meeting was held and a number of decisions were made:
A new Team of the Year points system will be used for 2010-2011:
- Unlimited number of team members
- Only best five placings at circuit events count for points (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th, 1 point for 5th)
- All team members who compete in a circuit event automatically earn 1 point (regardless of number of categories entered)
- Tournament Director, Referees, Scorekeeper, and Emcee earn 1 point each (if someone has two roles such as scorekeeper
/emcee, only 1 point is earned)
New region boundaries will be adopted:
- North/East
- Central
- West
- South (including Toronto area)
The OAA annual membership fee will be raised to $30, starting in 2011.
The entry fee for circuit sanctioned events will now be $25, with $5 going directly to the OAA.
The 2011 Provincial Championships will be held in Belleville by Joe Gould.
Women's classes at circuit sanctioned events may be run in a different fashion, pending participation (possibly triple elimination, with matches spread throughout the day).
The penalty fee for obtaining a bye to Nationals will rise to $200 starting in 2011. $30 will go to the Provincial Championships tournament director, $30 will go towards a yearly membership, and $140 will go to the OAA.
