Certified Referees
Canadian Arm Wrestling Federation (CAWF) certified referees (both the head referee and the spotter) are used at all Circuit Sanctioned events. At Sanctioned events, the head referee will be certified. The spotter will also generally be certified, but in some cases the spotter will be a puller who has not yet received his certification but has at least two years of experience in the sport and has a full understanding of the rules. In these cases, the head referee will always have final say on all calls.
If you are interested in becoming a CAWF certified referee, you must take part in a referee clinic. Clinics are held every year at the Canadian Armwrestling Championships, as well at the Ontario Provincial Championships. For more information on becoming a referee, visit the Refereeing in Canada website.
These are some of the current active certified referees in Ontario. If you are interested in holding a tournament, you will need to have one or more of these individuals officiate. Many referees may be willing to travel outside of their area.
