Regions

 

The OAA divides the province into 6 distinct regions for the "Ontario's Strongest Armwrestling Region" award. The regions are listed below.

 

Eastern Ontario, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in Eastern Ontario are Ottawa, Kingston, Belleville, Petawawa, Hawkesbury, and Cornwall.
 


Northern Ontario, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in Northern Ontario are Thunder Bay, Sault Ste-Marie, Sudbury, Timmins, and North Bay.

 

Central Ontario, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in Central Ontario are Oshawa, Port Perry, Peterborough, Gravenhurst, and Bracebridge.

 

Golden Horseshoe, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in the Golden Horseshoe are Newmarket, Toronto, Oakville, Hamilton, St-Catharines, and Niagara Falls.

 

Western Ontario, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in Western Ontario are Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Barrie, Owen Sound, Stratford, Guelph, Waterloo, and Kitchener.
 


Southern Ontario, which includes the following census divisions:

The main cities in Southern Ontario are Windsor, Sarnia, Leamington, London, Woodstock, and Brantford.
 

 

Five regions host a Circuit Sanctioned event during the year. These are:

 

 

Anyone can compete in these events, but OAA members will also accumulate points for their region. The points are earned in the following manner.

At the end of the year at the Provincial Championships, the pullers from the region with the most points will be awarded the title of "Ontario's Strongest Armwrestling Region". (The Provincial Championships also count for points, but only members who have competed in at least one of the six regional championship events will accumulate points.)
